Client: De Zwarte Hond
Video installations: Onur Can Tepe
Editing of the videos: Anna Sujkowska

Optimistic Activism is an exhibition organized by the Aedes Architecture Platform in Berlin in which renowned architecture practice De Zwarte Hond (DZH) demonstrates how positive change can be strategically shaped, with generosity as its starting point. The collaboration with 1000 Words led to three video installations inside the exhibition revealing the ideas behind the ideas and references behind the thinking of DZH as well as the outcome of their architectural work.

The visitors are welcomed by a 3-channel video installation that is made out of images collected by partners and collaborators of DZH, aiming to reveal the subconscious of the bureau.  Various contemporary and historical reference projects, drawings, photographs are grouped under three screens, each one dedicated to a theme: Generosity, Collaboration and Craftsmanship.

In the second room videos from the lives of five architecture and urban design projects are shown. Each has been filmed at various hours, depicting cinematic moments from various aspects of their lives.

A third screen dedicated to a bike trip in Groningen, a city that has long been at the center of DZH’s engagement with urban design efforts.
