Cannes film
Client: West 8
In collaboration with: Marcel IJzerman
Interviewees: Adriaan Geuze (West 8), Tara Karam (West 8)
As part of their competition proposal for Cannes waterfront, West 8 wanted to make a film explaining the design to the jury. We made a short film that takes the viewers on a journey between Rotterdam, Cannes and the future of its waterfront. Taking its inspiration from the energy of West 8 office, the short film has fast cuts and dynamic 3d images with motion graphic texts.

In order to take everyone in the design team on board, we have crafted the main story structure and made a storybord and presented it.
We worked with the in-house 3d team of West 8 to pick up camera locations and movement. We then added a graphic layer on top of the animations, explaning details of the design that would be relevant to the jury.
In the end the visual narrative came surprisingly close to the images at the storyboard.
On the other hand, the structure of the story was reshuffled during the editing to better serve the story and the design of the masterplan.
