Oosterlingen film
Client: Being B.V. and MVRDV
In collaboration with: Marcel IJzerman
Interviewees: Winy Maas (MVRDV), Joren van Dijk (Omgeving psycholoog)

Our client sought a film for a tender submission, and we proposed structuring it as a dialogue between the architect and an environmental psychologist. The psychologist provided analysis, while the architect explained the creative design decisions. We crafted a visual narrative using hand-sketched animations and supported the psychologist's insights with neighborhood footage referencing "lessons from the neighborhood."

In the beginning phase we presented the concept of the dialogue between the architect and the psychologist accompanied by images of walking and sketching.

We took the project renders as the basis for animations, this way avoiding time consuming feedback loop with regards to framing and composition, given the limited time that was available to deliver the tender submission. We animated them by turning them into hand sketches and that gave a consistent and original visual language to illustrate the design.

Before the interview, we reviewed key design decisions for the narrative with Winy Maas and kept prints on hand to help him stay on track. Our understanding of architecture proved crucial given the limited preparation time of the interviewee.

For the second interviewee we choose to have more dynamic footage, closer to the actual project site. We walked and sailed around Oosterlingen while doing the interview with the environmental psycholgist.
